16th edition of “PranverArt” opens, artists call for more support

The annual exhibition PranverArt has opened its 16th edition at the Tirana Art Gallery, bringing together a large number of artists from various fields of visual arts.

Painting, sculpture, and ceramics are some of the mediums through which artists present their work, offering a diverse artistic panorama.

In this edition, organized by painter Lazar Taçi and sculptor Maksim Bushi, there is a noticeable increase in the number of participants.

Sculptor Maksim Bushi highlighted the challenges artists face, including the lack of institutional support.

“I congratulate all the artists who have brought their artistic contributions, and for their patience—even though the state has almost abandoned us, we are capable enough to organize ourselves by finding our own spaces,” Bushi emphasized.

On the other hand, art researcher Agim Janina pointed out the lack of art criticism in the country, describing it as an obstacle to the further development of art.

“The absence of criticism, not to mention discussion, is a major handicap we are experiencing. I would say that artists are fortunate because they possess a gift that grants them a kind of immortality. These artists gathered here have a presence not only within the country but also abroad. This cultural space gives them room to create their works, and we see an artistic encounter between different movements and cultures. Artists need their voice, they need to exhibit, and they need artistic debate, which is currently missing,” Janina stated.

“PranverArt,” founded in 2010 as a group of independent artists, has become an important tradition in the cultural life of the capital. The exhibition will remain open until April 28.
