Minister of Defence Ermal Nufi announced that 727 operational personnel have been deployed over the past 24 hours to manage 20 active wildfire hotspots across different parts of Albania.
According to a statement posted on Facebook, support for local authorities included 128 members of the Albanian Armed Forces, two fire engines, one medical ambulance, and three Air Force helicopters to help extinguish the fires.
Minister Nufi also praised the dedication and professionalism of the personnel who have been battling wildfires since the start of the summer season.
“A total of 727 operational personnel have been engaged over the past 24 hours in managing 20 wildfire hotspots across different areas of the country.
In support of local authorities, 128 members of the Armed Forces, two fire engines, one medical ambulance, and three Air Force helicopters were specifically deployed.
As Minister of Defence, I cannot help but express my deepest respect for every one of them, as well as for all personnel who have been involved in wildfire response since the beginning of the summer.
These are the people who choose to walk toward danger in order to eliminate it, rather than stay away from it.
