TIRANA, August 25 – Albania recorded 31 wildfires over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Defence. Three fires remain active, while authorities are monitoring 6 others.
A total of 370 operational personnel and 22 firefighting vehicles have joined efforts to manage the situation. The Armed Forces have provided 70 personnel, 1 firefighting vehicle, 1 heavy tracked excavator and 3 helicopters.
The 3 active fires are in Mount Dajti, Ballenja and Qafë-Helmes. Meanwhile, authorities have deployed 20 Armed Forces personnel to Mount Dajti today. They reported no risk to populated areas.
Earlier, 30 Armed Forces personnel and 30 firefighters worked at the site. The difficult terrain also required support from an Armed Forces helicopter.
Civil protection structures and the Armed Forces continue operations on the ground and from the air. Their efforts focus on containing the fires, preventing their spread and protecting nearby communities.
