A group of 50 parachutists from Italy have opened this year’s tourist season at the Gjirokastër aerodrome. The Italian parachutists performed jumps from an aircraft at an altitude of 3,000 meters, putting on a real spectacle for air sports enthusiasts.
The activity was organized as a collaboration between Skydive Albania and the Albanian Aeronautical Federation, marking the first event in this year’s calendar at the Gjirokastër tourist-sports aerodrome.
“It’s the eighth time we come here to Albania. We feel very good and try to organize activities here several times a year. Gjirokastër is a wonderful city with strong tourism potential. I believe it will welcome many Italians again this year, as interest in visiting it is high,” said one parachutist.
“This is the third time I’ve taken part in activities held at the Gjirokastër aerodrome. It is truly beautiful—the landscape is amazing. The city and the castle, when seen from the sky, look truly impressive. It’s a great opportunity for Italian tourists,” said a female participant.
Another Italian added: “It’s always exciting to return to activities like these here in Gjirokastër. The city is fantastic, and skydiving gives you adrenaline. I will always be present in your country.”
The organization of international air sports activities has become a tradition for Gjirokastër. Events like these promote tourism and attract many visitors to the “stone city.”
