Edi Rama said Albania will strengthen the role of municipalities in the European Union accession process. He presented the new program “EU4Municipalities II,” supported by the European Union.

Then, he said the initiative aims to modernize local governance across the country.  He spoke during his “Flasim” podcast about the importance of empowering local government units.

In addition, he explained that the program will build capacity in municipalities to improve access to EU funds. Moreover, he said the initiative will transfer knowledge from the EU to Albanian local authorities.

Rama stressed that stronger municipalities will play a key role once Albania joins the EU. He expressed confidence that Albania is increasingly seen as a near-future member of the European Union.
