Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi met with ambassadors and Friendship Groups representing the “Friends of the Western Balkans” countries at the Parliament on Wednesday.
The group includes Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Peleshi described these countries as important partners for Albania. He also thanked them for their continued support for the country’s path toward European Union membership.
“Parliamentary cooperation provides an important bridge for our relations. It also helps support Albania’s progress toward EU membership,” Peleshi said.
Moreover, Peleshi highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening dialogue and cooperation with partner countries.
He said the Parliament will continue to contribute actively to the European integration process.
“The Parliament will remain an active contributor to this process. We will turn parliamentary diplomacy into a permanent platform for dialogue and cooperation,” Peleshi said.
Meanwhile, the meeting brought together parliamentary representatives and diplomatic missions from eight European countries. The talks focused on strengthening cooperation and maintaining close dialogue as Albania advances on its path toward EU membership.
