Albania continues to align its environmental standards with those of the European Union. The country is focusing on reforms, investments and stronger environmental regulations.
Environment Minister Sofjan Jaupaj said he presented Albania’s progress during a meeting in Brussels with European Commissioner for Environment Jessika Roswall. The meeting also focused on ongoing work under Chapter 27, “Environment and Climate Change.”
“One year of work to bring Albania closer to European environmental standards,” Jaupaj said. He stressed that reforms and investments in the sector aim to deliver concrete results. They also seek to gradually align Albania with EU standards.
Meanwhile, Chapter 27 covers EU policies and standards on environmental protection, climate change and the sustainable use of resources.
In addition, Jaupaj said Albania continues to strengthen its environmental framework as part of the country’s European integration process.
The minister stressed that closer alignment with EU environmental standards remains an important part of Albania’s reform agenda.
