Albania’s Customs Administration collected a record 164.9 billion ALL in revenue during the first eight months of 2026. The figure is 6.8 billion ALL higher than in the same period last year. According to the General Directorate of Customs, the result reflects stronger import activity, improved administration and tighter controls.
Import VAT contributed about 4.4 billion ALL of the increase, while excise revenue rose by about 2 billion ALL. Cigarette imports generated about 1.4 billion ALL more in excise revenue, while imported fuel contributed an additional 2.5 billion ALL in import VAT. Customs duties also increased by about 568 million ALL.
The Customs Administration said it will continue efforts to simplify procedures, combat informality and strengthen controls to support a more orderly business environment and fair competition.
