Prime Minister Edi Rama, speaking at the Euronews 2026 Tourism Summit, also addressed investments in Zvërnec and on Sazan Island. He said these projects are taking shape because Albania is open to such investments and has the conditions needed to work with major investors.
“We need to create the conditions for luxury tourism. It could be 100% foreign capital, a joint venture, a public-private partnership, or Albanian companies could be involved.
We also have Albanian companies that are in a position to take this step — perhaps not for a four-, five- or six-billion-euro resort, such as the one you have also covered, but certainly for high-end luxury hotels.
We want to be a small piece that shines within the broader mosaic of Europe, because sooner or later, Europe will become the world’s great tourism destination.
Today, we are working to bring to Albania what could be the largest tourism investment in Europe in many years. Combined, the projects on Sazan Island and the Zvërnec Peninsula could exceed €6 billion.
Why is this happening? It is happening because we have opened up as a country, because people are seeing where the opportunities are, and because Albania has the conditions to work with major investors in a serious and professional manner,” Rama said.
