European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen praised Albania’s progress in implementing the EU Growth Plan, stating that the country has completed 80% of the planned reforms.
During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana, she announced that Albania has so far received €213 million, with further payments expected in the coming weeks.
“These roadmaps will turn the path towards membership into concrete steps. Dear Edi, tomorrow morning we will have the pleasure of visiting Emin Duraku School. In 2019, when Albania was struck by the earthquake, and I remember those terrible days, we said that Europe would stand by your side. And we did stand by your side.
The EU for Schools programme is one that I particularly appreciate. Through this programme, 63 schools were rebuilt or renovated, including Emin Duraku School. I am very much looking forward to tomorrow’s visit,” von der Leyen said.
