Representatives of the United States Coast Guard visited Durrës Port under the International Port Security Program to review measures and procedures for port security. The delegation received a briefing on the port’s security situation, the implementation of standards under the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code and cooperation among institutions operating at the port.
The visit continued at the Passenger Terminal, where the delegation reviewed passenger processing and control procedures. It also visited the offices of security and law enforcement authorities operating at the port. Meanwhile, the port security officer and IT director presented monitoring, coordination and information-sharing systems in the Inter-Institutional Operations Room. These systems support real-time management of port security and operations.
The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange experience and strengthen cooperation on higher security standards at Durrës Port.
