Interior Minister Ervin Demo held a meeting with senior State Police officials at both central and regional levels, focusing on improving security, strengthening prevention measures, and responding to all forms of illegal activity with the full force of the law and professionalism.
Minister Demo requested detailed and up-to-date information from police officials on the crime situation across the country, particularly in high-risk areas where criminal activities involving narcotics and illegal gambling take place. He also sought updates on efforts to locate and arrest wanted individuals considered highly dangerous to society and whose cases have a significant public impact.
Special attention was given to preventing and combating the illegal possession of weapons. The minister called for the use of police intelligence and surprise operations targeting individuals who carry firearms illegally, with the aim of preventing and tackling the phenomenon.
One of the main tasks Minister Demo assigned to central and local police officials was the implementation of the School Safety Package, stressing that student safety is a top priority. He called for the maximum engagement of all police structures to ensure security in and around school premises.
Minister Demo also called on local police officials to remain actively involved in field operations and directly oversee issues affecting their respective areas. He stressed that service to citizens, proper conduct and ethical communication, as well as the continuous follow-up of citizens’ concerns and reports, are essential to strengthening public trust in the State Police.
State Police Director General Skënder Hita thanked the Interior Minister for his support and assured him of the State Police structures’ determination to continue their professional work in close cooperation with law enforcement agencies and citizens.
