Cardiac Surgery Gets New Facility, Rama: Investments in QSUT to Continue in 2027

Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the new Cardiac Surgery facility at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center (QSUT), which aims to provide modern services and raise standards of patient care.

During the visit, Rama said investments in QSUT would continue in 2027, with the aim of fully addressing the needs of the hospital’s facilities.

“Investments across QSUT have largely been completed, and what is essential from my perspective is that there should be no budgetary constraints when it comes to meeting the hospital’s remaining needs. We must address all of them through the 2027 budget. That is the ambition,” Rama said.

Another objective mentioned by the Prime Minister is the completion of a large 1,400-space parking facility at the entrance to QSUT. According to Rama, the project will make it possible to remove vehicles from the hospital grounds and transform the internal spaces into a green area.

“Once the large 1,400-space parking facility at the entrance is completed, we will finally remove all cars from the hospital grounds. At the same time, the entire hospital area should be transformed into a park, which we believe we can complete within two years,” he said.

Rama also spoke about a potential partnership with another well-known institution, saying discussions on the project are ongoing.

According to the Prime Minister, the partnership would include a management model and the construction of a private facility within the hospital grounds, where QSUT professionals would be able to work in parallel.

“We are continuing discussions on a partnership between the hospital and another highly renowned institution, and I believe that very soon we will be able to establish this partnership, which will include a management component. Part of the plan is to build a private facility within the hospital, where you will be able to work in parallel,” Rama said.
