Retro Car Tour Brings New Energy to Gjirokastër

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images on social media today from “Gran Tour Albania,” an event that brought Italian collectors of vintage cars to the historic city of Gjirokastër.

“Motoring enthusiasts and tourists added a new color to Gjirokastër in autumn,” Rama wrote alongside photos from the event.

Rare vintage vehicles lined the stone-paved streets of the UNESCO-listed city, creating a unique atmosphere alongside the sounds of Albanian iso-polyphony and the distinctive landscape of Gjirokastër.

Organized by the Old Cars Club and the General Directorate of Road Transport Services (DPSHTRR), the event gathered Italian collectors of historic automobiles and attracted the attention of tourists and car enthusiasts alike.

Meanwhile, the tour promoted both classic automobiles and Albanian tourist destinations. The stop in Gjirokastër added a new attraction to the city’s autumn tourism season and highlighted its cultural and historical appeal.
