Eagle Symbol Becomes Lasting Memory for Foreign Tourists Leaving Albania

Albania continues to attract foreign tourists with its coastline, natural landscapes and rich historical and cultural heritage.

Tourism remains one of the country’s most important economic sectors. At the same time, a longer tourism season creates new opportunities for local businesses and supports employment growth.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today shared on social media a striking image of two foreign tourists making Albania’s eagle symbol with their hands. The gesture captured their final moments in the country and became a lasting reminder of their visit.

In recent years, Albania has expanded its tourism offer beyond the traditional summer season. The country now welcomes visitors interested in a wider range of experiences.

Alongside coastal and nature tourism, Albania offers cultural and historical attractions. Traditional cuisine, local products and Albanian hospitality also form an important part of the experience for foreign visitors.

The cities of Berat and Gjirokastër, both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, remain major attractions for travelers interested in history and cultural heritage. The Butrint Archaeological Park also ranks among the country’s leading historical destinations.

Nature also plays a central role in Albania’s tourism offer. National parks, mountains, lakes and rivers provide visitors with a wide range of outdoor experiences.

Hiking, mountaineering, rafting and other outdoor activities have made adventure tourism increasingly attractive. These activities also encourage visitors to explore different parts of the country.

As a result, Albania continues to expand tourism beyond the summer months. This trend supports tourism development across the country and helps attract visitors throughout the year.

According to data from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), Albania recorded more than 9.4 million entries by foreign citizens from January through August 2026. The figure represents a 5.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025. In August alone, authorities recorded around 2.43 million entries by foreign citizens.
