Albania-San Marino match: Roads to be closed in Tirana

The State Police has prepared a security plan for tonight’s Albania-San Marino match at Air Albania Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:45.

From 17:00 until the end of the match, the State Police and Tirana Municipal Police will restrict vehicle traffic on several roads near the stadium. The measures aim to ensure public safety and ease traffic in the city.

The following roads will be closed or restricted:

  • ‘Dëshmorët e Kombit’ Boulevard, from the Laguna fast-food restaurant near the former Dajti Hotel bridge;
  • Pope John Paul II Street, at the Albanian Radio and Television intersection;
  • Dervish Hima Street, near the United States Embassy;
  • Asim Zeneli Street, near the United States Embassy;
  • Themistokli Gërmenji Street, at the entrance;
  • Ismail Qemali Street, at the Albanian Radio Television intersection;
  • Lekë Dukagjini Street, near the former Republican Guard, serving as an entrance corridor to the designated parking area for vehicles authorised by the Albanian Football Federation;
  • Abdyl Frashëri Street, near the University Bookstore intersection;
  • Wilson Square, where traffic towards Sami Frashëri Street will be diverted shortly before the end of the match.

Meanwhile, Elbasani Street, the Small Ring Road and Bajram Curri Boulevard will remain open to traffic.

The State Police will carry out detailed checks on fans before they enter the stadium. Officers will prevent the entry of racist banners, fireworks, flares, pyrotechnic materials, metal coins, umbrellas, lighters, phone chargers, cosmetic products and other hard or dangerous objects.

The police has asked fans to arrive at the stadium entrances from 18:30. It warned that heavy crowds could prevent some fans from entering shortly before kick-off. Hundreds of police officers will provide security, assistance and information throughout the event.
