Tirana will host Japanese Cultural Week from October 14 to 18, offering five days of activities that showcase Japan’s traditions, art, architecture, cuisine, cinema and martial arts. The programme will feature traditional tea ceremonies, Japanese food demonstrations, exhibitions, film screenings and judo and karate competitions.

On October 16, visitors can explore the architecture exhibition “The Built Environment – An Alternative Guide to Japan” and sample Japanese specialities, including sushi and fruit daifuku. The Japanese Film Day on October 17 at Agimi Art Centre will screen two contemporary films, “The Hotel of My Dream” (2024) and “Sunset Sunrise” (2025).

The programme will conclude on October 18 at Tirana’s Olympic Park with the Ambassador’s Cup in judo and karate. The event will highlight the discipline, respect and perseverance that define Japanese martial arts while strengthening cultural ties between Japan and Albania.
