“Muji and Halili,” one of the best-known tales of Albanian epic folklore, will soon reach the big screen in a film directed by Turjan Hysko.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja shared footage from the film on social media, highlighting its retelling of a legendary story passed down through generations in traditional epic songs and oral storytelling.
“Two heroes. One besa. A legend that never dies,” Gonxhja wrote, referring to the Albanian tradition of honor, loyalty and keeping one’s word.
The Cycle of the Kreshniks, featuring the legendary heroes Muji and Halili, holds a central place in Albania’s cultural heritage. Its stories celebrate courage, honor, loyalty and resilience. The new film aims to bring these traditions to younger audiences through cinema. “Muji and Halili” is expected to hit cinemas soon.
