Albania and Greece maintain good neighbourly relations, which they aim to further strengthen through economic, regional, academic and security cooperation. This message was conveyed at the Balkan Strategic Forum, held in Tirana with the participation of Albanian and Greek delegations.
“There are even greater opportunities to develop these forms of cooperation with Albania. This is because the bridges connecting our two countries were built long ago. They extend through the Greek national minority living in Albania, just as they do through the strong Albanian community living in Greece. Our goal is to build our shared future together. That is precisely why we are here today,” said Konstantinos Gioulekas, Greece’s Deputy Minister of the Interior.
Representatives of the Albanian government also shared the same assessment of the potential for cooperation between the two countries in sectors such as the economy, entrepreneurship and education, as well as at the level of local government, regions and municipalities.
“Greece is de facto Albania’s strategic partner. We are continuing our efforts to build on the progress achieved in bilateral relations,” said Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi.
“Albania and Greece are jointly implementing 20 projects with a total value of 25 million euros, covering areas that directly affect citizens’ lives,” said Interior Minister Ervin Demo.
For the Greek delegation, this initiative is not limited to Albania but also extends to other countries in the region, highlighting the Balkans’ particular importance in strengthening lasting relations and regional cooperation.
