Prime Minister Edi Rama stated during his speech that the “Price Comparison Platform” and the “Kurse” initiative are launching with 238 products across 13 categories, giving consumers the opportunity to compare prices and choose where to shop for the best deals.
Rama said the “Price Comparison Platform” is a joint initiative between the government, supermarkets, and suppliers, aimed at promoting competition, protecting consumers, and easing the daily expenses of Albanian families.
He stressed that amid rising costs, it is necessary to create new opportunities for consumers and strengthen cooperation between sellers and buyers.
“I am pleased that we achieved this first objective without needing anything more than mutual understanding. And we reached that understanding by agreeing that today is a time to look beyond daily profits and that respect for consumers is also demonstrated through access to information.
At a time when rising costs are a common feature across all countries, we must take a step beyond the traditional dividing line between sellers and buyers by offering an additional opportunity. Thanks to this understanding and the cooperation of these five major players in Albania’s food retail sector, we now effectively have this price comparison platform and an agreement covering a range of products whose prices will remain reasonable and unchanged until January 12 of next year,” Rama said.
“This price comparison platform is part of the ‘Pasqyra Albania’ concept, and we want to take it to another level across every sector so that everyone can see the facts with their own eyes.
Creating a single platform where the state is accessible with just one click, allowing people to access facts and truths based on evidence rather than words, is essential at this time.
The Price Comparison Platform is one of these components, containing nothing but factual information about essential consumer goods. At the same time, we want many other businesses, smaller in terms of volume but equally important, to join this initiative,” Rama added.
