Albania’s High Court, Netherlands Pledge Continued Support for Judicial Reform

High Court President Sokol Sadushi met with the Netherlands’ new ambassador to Albania, Marleen Monster, on Monday to discuss judicial reforms, the court’s progress and ways to strengthen institutional cooperation.

Monster praised the progress made by Albania’s justice institutions and reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to supporting ongoing reforms. She also highlighted cooperation between the Albanian and Dutch Supreme Courts, noting that joint activities have encouraged the exchange of expertise and strengthened institutional capacities.

Sadushi acknowledged the challenges facing Albania’s justice system but said the High Court had made steady progress through institutional reforms and consolidation over the past six years. He stressed the importance of maintaining these gains, particularly in reducing the backlog of pending cases.

Sadushi described the reduction in the backlog as one of the court’s most significant achievements and said continued progress remains essential to improving judicial performance and services for citizens.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation between their countries’ justice institutions and to advancing judicial reforms.
