Kosovo Government Establishes Working Group for State Strategy to Defend Former KLA Leaders in The Hague

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced during a government meeting that a proposal to establish a working group tasked with drafting, coordinating and harmonising a state strategy regarding appeal proceedings at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague had been approved.

Kurti stated that the first-instance verdict against the four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) was, in his view, legally and morally unjust and contained legal and historical inaccuracies.

He emphasised that correcting the verdict at the appeals stage requires a state strategy that transcends party differences and unites institutions around a common goal.

“For this reason, today we are establishing a working group, chaired by Glauk Konjufca, with institutional and parliamentary representation, to coordinate legal, institutional and diplomatic support for the appeal proceedings,” Kurti stated.

According to him, the decision puts into practice the government’s commitment to using all available means to serve justice and defend the historical truth of the liberation war.

The proposal to establish the working group was approved during the government meeting.
