The Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry has reacted to acts of violence and damage to public and private property during protests in the capital, condemning attacks on institutions, banks, shopping centers, and business premises.
In its statement, the Chamber emphasized that peaceful protest is a fundamental right in a democratic society, but stressed that no grievance or political confrontation can justify violence, arson, or vandalism.
“Businesses, employees, and their property must not become targets of political tensions,” the statement said, highlighting that behind every business are investments, jobs, and families who depend on it for their livelihoods.
According to the Chamber of Commerce, damage to businesses affects not only their owners but also employees, customers, and the city’s economy, while the destruction of public property places a financial burden on all taxpayers.
In conclusion, the Chamber called on the State Police and the relevant authorities to take concrete measures to prevent acts of violence, strengthen security in high-risk areas, and intervene promptly to protect lives and public and private property.
