Student Protests: EU Delegation Urges Young People to Avoid All Acts of Violence

The EU Delegation in Tirana issued a statement on Thursday regarding the student protests, condemning the escalation of violence and damage to property.

In its statement, the delegation called on protesters to refrain from violence. According to the EU, constructive dialogue among all parties is the only way forward to address legitimate concerns.

“We strongly condemn the escalation of violence during the protest and the destruction of public and private property. We call on protesters to exercise restraint and avoid any acts of violence. Violence has no place in a democracy.

Freedom of assembly and expression are fundamental rights and core European values. They must be respected and exercised peacefully. Constructive dialogue among all parties is the only way forward to address legitimate concerns,” the EU Delegation said in its statement.
