Reuters Covers the Fifth Day of Protests in Tirana

These are the photographs published by the Reuters news agency documenting the fifth day of protests in Tirana.

Reuters reports that Albanian police used suspected rubber bullets against demonstrators in Tirana during the fifth day of protests calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

“Reuters journalists found rubber pellet cartridges on the ground, while two of its journalists and several protesters were struck by the projectiles. State Police Chief Skënder Hita did not deny the use of these weapons, stating that all equipment had been used in a limited manner.

Rama said the government respects students and their right to protest, but stressed that it would not abandon its responsibility to ensure justice and advance Albania’s integration into the European Union by 2030,” Reuters reports.
