Protests, Rama: €2,500 for every frontline police officer and salary increases from January 1

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Interior Minister Ervin Demo held a meeting with senior State Police officials following last night’s violent protest.

During the meeting, Rama condemned attacks on police officers and announced significant salary increases for police personnel starting January 1, as well as financial support of €2,500 for every officer deployed on the front line.

“We will significantly increase your salaries. When we found the police force betrayed and abandoned, we introduced substantial pay rises at the time. Over the years, however, we have not increased your salaries as much as we should have.

We were discussing this a few weeks ago. Under the new budget, starting January 1, your salaries will increase significantly.

We will allocate €2,500 to every frontline police officer. We made this decision to ensure that no distinctions are made. You are one, and one for all.

The state will win this battle,” he stressed.
