Gonxhja at Balkan Sea Fair: Tourism Revenue Doubled in Three Years

Tourism revenue in Albania has more than doubled in three years, while overnight stays outside the peak summer season have increased by around 78%, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja said.

Gonxhja attended the Balkan Blue Economy Summit at Marina Orikum as part of the Balkans Sea Fair. The event focused on the potential of marine tourism and the economic opportunities created by marinas and sailing.

“We aim to turn this growth into more investment, higher-quality services and jobs for coastal communities,” Gonxhja said.

He added that attracting more yachts to Albania for refueling and maintenance would generate additional revenue for local businesses and create year-round opportunities for Albanian families.

The three-day Balkans Sea Fair brought together sailing, adventure, business and entertainment along the coast of Vlora. The event aimed to foster exchanges and cooperation in marine tourism while highlighting Albania’s coastal potential beyond the traditional summer season.
