Albania and Italy seek stronger defence and security partnership

Albanian Defence Minister Ermal Nufi has reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to strengthening defence and security cooperation with Italy.

Nufi made the statement while recognising Italian Military Attaché Colonel Agostino Piccirillo at the end of his mission in Albania. He praised Piccirillo’s professionalism and contribution to bilateral defence ties.

The minister also welcomed the new Italian Military Attaché, Colonel Davide Valente, in the presence of Italian Ambassador to Albania Marco Alberti.

Nufi said the two countries would continue to deepen cooperation in defence modernisation, military capabilities, the defence industry, military education and training, and operational readiness. He stressed the importance of a long-term partnership based on concrete results and a joint response to Europe’s changing security challenges.
