Malaj: Revenues for 2027 budget are estimated at 907.9 billion lekë

TIRANA, November 5 /ATA/ – Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj stated today that budget revenues for 2027 are estimated at 907.9 billion lekë, i.e. 30.9% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

During his remarks to the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Employment, and Finance— where the 2027 draft budget projections are under discussion —Malaj stated that the revenue projections for the coming year are based on economic growth, improvements in tax administration and implementation of measures within the fiscal package.

“2027 revenues are a cornerstone of our fiscal policy, supporting the Ministry of Finance’s goals to increase public revenue, balance the budget, and sustainably reduce public debt,” Malaj said.

According to the minister, this forecast is built upon the enhancement of tax administration, with the aim of reducing informality and increasing efficiency in revenue collection.

“In 2027, ‘Taxes and Customs’ revenues are projected to reach 583.5 billion lekë, marking a 46.8 billion lekë increase over the 2026 forecast. This growth reflects a positive economic outlook and the success of robust tax and customs administration measures. Meanwhile, social and health insurance contributions are expected to hit 210.3 billion lekë—a 4.5% (9.1 billion lekë) increase compared to 2026. This upward trend is driven by an expanded contribution base, fueled by rising wages, more accurate private-sector payroll reporting, stronger administration, and increased formalization of the labor market,” Malaj emphasized.

Minister Malaj also addressed the measures included in the 2027 fiscal package, which entail amendments to legislation concerning income tax, VAT, tax procedures and excise duties.

Malaj emphasized that the revenue projections for 2027 are designed to support fiscal policy objectives, ensuring the sustainability of public finances and improving revenue collection. /k.s/r.e/a.f/p.s./
