INSTAT requests an extra 60 million Lekë for 2027 agricultural census

TIRANA, November 5 /ATSH/ – The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) is requesting an additional 60 million lekë in the 2027 budget to conduct the agriculture census. The funds will focus on investments in technological infrastructure and providing incentives for the human resources involved in this statistical operation.

During a report to the Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight, INSTAT Director General Lantona Sado emphasized that in 2027, the institution will be engaged in a series of preparatory activities—ranging from technological investments to the identification, recruitment and training of field staff.

According to Sado, 25 million lekë has been earmarked as incentives for institutional staff participating in the agriculture census process, while approximately 35 million lekë is allocated for investments in technological infrastructure.

“Enhancing this infrastructure aligns with Parliament’s directive for the Institute of Statistics to modernize and secure its technological ecosystem,” Sado stated. She emphasized that the timely allocation of funds for the census of agriculture is crucial for carrying out its activities—specifically regarding procurement procedures for technical infrastructure, staff recruitment and the organization of information campaigns related to the census.

In this context, she requested the support of the Members of Parliament in securing the necessary funding, describing the census of agriculture as a major statistical operation that requires timely planning and financing. /r.e/p.s./
