Investor confidence, legal certainty and stronger institutions remain essential to attracting sustainable foreign investment. Experts discussed these challenges at the “Investing in Albania and the Western Balkans” panel on November 4, during the 32nd Tirana International Fair.
Sara Zotaj of the Albanian Investment Development Agency highlighted the country’s geographic position, skilled workforce and potential in technology, digital services, energy and tourism. She also pointed to more than 40 bilateral investment protection agreements.
Project finance adviser Chaudhary Naeem stressed the need for predictable rules, reliable infrastructure and well-prepared business plans. Economist Selami Xhepa called for more investment in manufacturing and industry rather than real estate and other sectors focused mainly on the domestic market. He said stronger courts, the rule of law and lower corruption mattered more than tax incentives alone.
Dorin Rama, chief executive of Crimson Finance Fund Albania, highlighted financial management challenges facing small and medium-sized businesses. He also identified medical tourism and manufacturing as sectors with growth potential.
Participants agreed that Albania must turn international interest into sustainable investment through credible institutions, prepared projects and closer cooperation between government and business.
