The exhibition was organized by the Albanian Embassy in Kosovo, the National Library of Kosovo, and the Kadare Studio House – Municipality of Tirana.
At the opening ceremony, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nora Arapi-Krasniqi praised the writer’s role in supporting Kosovo’s cause.
“For us in Kosovo, Kadare was more than a great writer. He used his authority and fame to support Kosovo’s liberation and to help put an end to discriminatory policies against Albanians. His works accompanied us through difficult years and reminded us that words can be a form of resistance, remembrance, and hope,” said Nora Arapi-Krasniqi, Deputy Minister of Culture.
Albania’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, emphasized that Kadare succeeded in bringing Albanian literature to the international stage while maintaining a strong connection to his Albanian roots and identity.
“Through the power of words, he made the Albanian language part of world literature and the historical experience of Albanians part of universal memory. He gave our literature extraordinary international recognition while remaining deeply connected to our roots, identity, and history,” said Petrit Malaj, Albania’s Ambassador to Kosovo.
The Director General of the National Library of Kosovo, Blerina Rogova Gaxha, praised Kadare’s literary achievements, describing him as belonging to a rare category of writers who create an entire literary universe through their work.
The exhibition features documents and materials highlighting Ismail Kadare’s literary legacy, his connection to Kosovo, and his intellectual engagement during significant periods of Albanian history.
