Tirana bypass to ease traffic as PM Rama pledges transparent expropriations

Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by Infrastructure and Energy Minister Enea Karakaçi, inspected construction work on the 21-kilometre Tirana bypass. The project aims to ease traffic and divert vehicles away from the capital.

Rama said work was progressing well and highlighted the road’s strategic role in connecting the Blue Corridor with the Tirana–Durrës motorway and the Tirana–Elbasan route.

Once completed, the bypass will allow some traffic heading towards southern and southeastern Albania to avoid entering Tirana. It will also ease journeys for motorists entering and leaving the capital.

Rama also addressed expropriations in the project area, pledging that authorities would carry them out transparently and in accordance with the law. He added that the new road was expected to increase property values in the surrounding area.
