TIRANA, Nov 6 /ATA/ The 2027 budget of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation prioritises increased financial support for pensioners, including doubling the monthly bonus, indexing pensions and preparing a new pension scheme.
Speaking in a television interview, Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj said the ministry’s budget for 2027 stands at around ALL 42 billion, with 70% earmarked for social security expenditure, primarily pensions.
Ibrahimaj said the budget includes measures to ensure that the benefits of economic growth are reflected in people’s well-being and more widely redistributed across society.
A key measure set to take effect on 1 January 2027 is the doubling of the monthly bonus paid to pensioners.
“In 2027, we will double the monthly bonus, as promised, with the aim of bringing pensioners’ incomes closer to the thresholds we have set. For those who have completed a full working career and receive a pension of less than ALL 40,000, the monthly bonus will increase from ALL 1,800 this year to ALL 3,600 next year,” Ibrahimaj said.
In addition to the monthly bonus, the next pension indexation is scheduled for April 2027, with ALL 4 billion allocated for this purpose.
Ibrahimaj said pension indexation will return to its traditional April schedule in 2027, backed by ALL 4 billion in funding, while the new pension scheme is expected to be finalised that year and implemented in early 2028.
“The pension scheme is expected to be finalised in 2027, with its implementation set to begin in early 2028,” she said.
