Hoxha: No Blockage in Albania’s EU Accession Process

Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha said Albania faces no blockage in its EU accession process. He stressed that the country has advanced in closing chapters, but member states make the final decisions.

“Reforms are our key to joining the European family,” Hoxha told Top Channel. He rejected claims of any obstacles from the European Commission.

Hoxha said negotiations are complex, both technical and political. They require time, consistency, and measurable results.

He added that Albania leads in the new IBAR methodology. The country addressed 92 gaps in Chapters 23 and 24, covering justice, public administration, rule of law, and human rights.

Hoxha emphasized that detailed reviews by member states are normal. They ensure quality, sustainability, and trust in the process.

He noted that Albania now has a strong, reliable profile and receives broad support from EU institutions and member states.

“The process moves forward on structured plans. We harmonize legislation, strengthen institutions, and raise standards. Reforms happen in Albania; evaluations occur in Brussels, but benefits stay here for our citizens,” Hoxha said.

He concluded: “The accession process is irreversible. Reforms are our key. Albania moves in the right direction.”
