Minister Sala inspects Berati Regional Hospital, emphasizes expanding laboratory testing

TIRANA, April 1 – Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Evis Sala, inspected ongoing reconstruction works at Berat Regional Hospital, focusing on the laboratory, where she assessed the uninterrupted provision of diagnostic services.

Speaking with laboratory staff, Sala noted that the rise in cases, particularly chronic diseases, has increased the volume of tests, often exceeding planned capacity. She emphasized that laboratory examinations continue daily without interruption, with priority given to urgent cases.

The minister highlighted efforts to expand the range of laboratory analyses in collaboration with specialist doctors and experts. This expansion includes molecular indicators, which play a key role in developing and applying innovative therapies.

Berat Regional Hospital is currently renovating several services in the operating block to improve conditions and provide higher-quality care. Meanwhile, staff continue to deliver professional and uninterrupted medical and laboratory services despite high patient flows.

Investments in infrastructure and service strengthening reflect Albania’s commitment to a European-standard healthcare system, where quality, access, and equal treatment for every citizen align with EU standards.
