Albania moves steadily towards EU as youth gain new opportunities

TIRANA, April 2 – State Minister and Chief Negotiator Majlinda Dhuka said Albania is advancing steadily towards European Union membership. She spoke during a discussion with students on the integration process. She stressed that accession is not only a technical exercise. Instead, it represents a deep European transformation for the country and its citizens.

Dhuka said the process goes beyond fulfilling conditions set by the European Union. She noted that more than one hundred requirements guide the negotiations. However, she underlined that the core of the process lies in transformation. “Albania is moving with steady steps towards the European family. At the heart of this journey stands European transformation,” she said.

She added that integration opens opportunities across many sectors. These include entrepreneurship, education, food safety, environment, mobility, and innovation. In this context, she described the European Union as a space that brings new energy to every aspect of life. “I believe the European Union is an ocean of opportunities, and we are moving towards it together,” Dhuka said.

Furthermore, Dhuka highlighted opportunities within the European common market and youth programmes. She referred to higher education, research initiatives, and exchange programmes such as Erasmus Plus. She said these initiatives offer training and experience within European institutions and the negotiation process. According to her, each negotiation chapter creates concrete opportunities. She stressed that active engagement allows young people to benefit directly from the process.
