Rector of Elbasan University elected president of Balkan Universities Alliance for 2028

TIRANA, April 3 – Elbasan University “Aleksandër Xhuvani” has achieved a major international milestone. Its rector, Professor Elvira Fetahu, has been elected president of the Balkan Universities Alliance for 2028.

The university described the election as a significant achievement. It highlights the institution’s growing role in strengthening academic cooperation across the region.

Elbasan University has been a member of the alliance since 2015. In 2028, it will lead the network, which includes around 120 universities from across the Balkans. This makes the university’s representation at the helm particularly meaningful.

Professor Fetahu’s election recognises the university’s contribution to inter-university relations and the promotion of regional academic collaboration.

The development is expected to further strengthen Elbasan University’s position in higher education across the Balkans. It will give the institution a more active role in decision-making, joint projects, and regional academic initiatives. The election also enhances the university’s prestige and expands opportunities for collaboration with other universities in the region.
