“It is being said that negotiations have been blocked, halted,” Rama: Completely untrue, we are on schedule

At the event held for the presentation of job vacancies in the public sector, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the importance of public administration as well as the negotiations for accession to the European Union.

The Prime Minister pointed out that public administration has contributed to Albania’s development in several aspects, adding that there is still room for improvement.

“It is difficult to build a public administration of European standards in a small country, with the numerous regional ties that Albania has. It is thanks to this administration that many other things are positively reflected.

The negotiation process is moving forward successfully at a unique pace, not only due to our merit, but also thanks to this administration, which drives the country’s development in every aspect, despite existing challenges.

Today we are in a position where we have opened all chapters and are in discussions with the European Commission by our side. Opposite us are the member states regarding the interim benchmarks, which are a key moment in the negotiations, for which the European Commission has given a positive assessment for Albania,” Rama said.

The Prime Minister also dismissed claims that negotiations may have been blocked, explaining that the entire process is continuing as planned according to the agenda.

“It is being said that negotiations have been blocked or stopped—this is completely untrue. Negotiations are not a walk in the park; they are a continuous testing process. This test, which is now taking place between us and the member states, is crucial, but there is zero reason to speak of blockage or obstruction. We are following the defined agenda. April is the month of intensive discussions, as by the end of March all questions from member states have been compiled. After the discussions, decision-making will follow,” Rama emphasized.
