Saint Anthony’s Holy Tuesday, Rama shares images from Laç Church

Every Tuesday since March 17 has drawn pilgrims to the Church of Saint Anthony in Laç. As a result, the site has become a center of prayer. People travel from cities across the country.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images on social media. He showed the church in Laç. He described it as a place that unites believers. Moreover, people of different faiths gather there.

Believers trust in the miracles of Saint Anthony. He is one of the most well-known saints. His devotion extends across Albania and Europe. Therefore, crowds grow each week.

The ritual of the 13 Holy Tuesdays begins after passing Laç. Then, pilgrims start the climb up the mountain. First, they stop at the “footprints” site. People believe Saint Anthony passed there.

Pilgrims point to marks on the rocks. They say they show his hands and feet. They also believe he rested there. Even during the communist regime, believers continued the pilgrimage. Although authorities banned it, they did not stop.

On June 13, 1990, crowds filled the church. Believers gathered spontaneously. They came to celebrate Saint Anthony. Since then, the tradition has remained strong.
