PM Kurti Unveils 2030 Plans: New Judo Hall to Host Combat Sports at the Mediterranean Games

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has emphasized the importance of investing in sports infrastructure, directly linking the development of judo with preparations for the Mediterranean Games 2030, which will be held in Kosovo.

In a statement made during the launch of works for the expansion of the National Judo Centre in Peja, Kurti highlighted that the current judo center has been the foundation of Kosovo’s Olympic successes. The new investment aims to take the sport to an even higher level by creating modern conditions and international standards for athletes, KosovaPress reports.

“This center where we are currently located was inaugurated in September 2021. Part of the journey toward Olympic medals at ‘Paris 2024’ was paved სწორედ here. The other part was achieved under more difficult conditions, but through hard work and dedication, this extraordinary judo team has brought Olympic gold medals from Rio and Tokyo. With the continuous commitment of the Judo Federation to elevate Kosovo further, within the framework of the ‘Kosovo – a state of judo’ program, today we are launching this new investment.

This project includes: a new judo hall built to international standards, a multifunctional facility including accommodation, a swimming pool, a fitness hall, and a restaurant. The project will create the conditions for Kosovo’s judo to continue progressing, strengthen its role as a training center in Europe, and at the same time contribute to the development of sport, tourism, and the economy in our country. It is precisely here, in the new judo hall, that combat sports competitions within the Mediterranean Games 2030 will take place,” Kurti stated.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister underlined that this project is not only an investment in sport, but also a strategic step toward the successful organization of the Mediterranean Games 2030, positioning Kosovo as an important sports hub in the region and beyond.
