Warning: New SMS scam posing as e-Albania over vehicle fines

A new SMS-based scam targeting citizens with fake notifications about vehicle fines has been identified by the State Police.

According to the official statement, the messages appear to come from the e-Albania platform and contain fraudulent links that redirect users to fake websites. The purpose of these sites is to steal citizens’ personal and banking data.

Authorities say the scheme is similar to a previous case carried out in the name of Posta Shqiptare, for which a complaint has been filed with cybercrime investigation structures.

The police emphasize that these messages have no connection with state institutions and describe them as fraudulent attempts.

In this context, citizens are advised to take the following precautions:

  • Do not click on links sent from unknown numbers
  • Do not provide personal or banking information on unverified websites
  • Avoid responding to messages that create a sense of urgency

Investigations to identify and prosecute those responsible are ongoing.
