TIRANA, April 9 – German Brigadier General Thomas Schulte-Borghoff has officially taken over as Director of NATO’s Advisory and Liaison Team in Kosova. He succeeds Doctor Sven Lange. The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defence in Prishtina, according to a KFOR statement.
General Lange, who led the team since March 2025, stressed that advisory work succeeds only when local security institutions are willing to engage and cooperate.
Schulte-Borghoff praised his predecessor and expressed readiness to continue building on the established foundation. “I look forward to continuing the path you have set. You have laid a strong foundation, and it is a privilege to work with such a professional team,” he said.
The German general has held senior positions in the German Armed Forces, served in the Federal Ministry of Defence, and in NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). He also graduated from NATO’s Defence College.
Since August 2016, NATO’s Advisory and Liaison Team (NALT) in Kosovo has supported the Ministry of Defence and the Kosova Security Force (FSK). The team advises on professional and institutional development, coordinates with NATO and international partners, and helps advance the FSK according to international standards.
