Tourism, Culture, and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja visited the Gjuhadol neighborhood in Shkodra. Mayor Benet Beci joined him. The area includes many historic buildings. Authorities plan to revitalize them and restore their identity.
Gonxhja said they will implement a structured intervention plan. The plan targets historic zones and centers. The goal is clear. Authorities will preserve and revitalize buildings with cultural and architectural value. Therefore, local and central institutions will cooperate. The community will also take part. This approach will ensure sustainable and long-term impact.
Gonxhja said teams are creating cooperation models. These models will restore the buildings’ full identity. They will also integrate them into economic, cultural, and tourist life. As a result, Shkodra will strengthen its role as a heritage center. The city will also gain new development potential.
Meanwhile, Beci highlighted Gjuhadol’s popularity. About 2.5 million tourists pass through the area each year. However, he said the zone needs restoration. He stressed cooperation with the ministry. Authorities aim to turn Gjuhadol into a stronger destination. He called it one of the most beautiful streets in Shkodra.
Finally, Beci noted the neighborhood’s historical value. Architect Kolë Idromeno designed the entire area.
