Former New York Mayor Eric Adams Granted Albanian Citizenship, Registers in Tirana’s Administrative Unit No. 2

Former New York City mayor Eric Adams has officially registered as a resident in Administrative Unit No. 2 in Tirana after being granted Albanian citizenship.

According to available information, Adams has also begun procedures to obtain Albanian identification documents, including a passport and national ID card.

The news was made public through a social media post by the head of Administrative Unit No. 2, Florian Pullazi, who also shared photos from the meeting with the former U.S. official.

In his statements, Adams described obtaining Albanian citizenship as a reflection of the strong and historic ties between New York City and the Albanian community in the United States.

For his part, Pullazi described Adams as a long-time supporter of Albanians, now also an Albanian citizen with official documentation, highlighting his contributions to public safety during his career with the New York Police Department.

He added that it is a pleasure for Adams to now join the community of residents in Unit No. 2 in the capital.
