TIRANA, April 15 – Albanian Defence Minister Ermal Nufi said Albania is strengthening its strategic dialogue with NATO. He made the statement after a meeting in Brussels with the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone. The talks focused on expanding cooperation within the alliance framework.
Both sides discussed closer institutional coordination across Defence structures. They also reviewed Albania’s role in NATO operations linked to regional peace, security, and stability. The discussion placed particular attention on developments in the Western Balkans.
Kosovo and the NATO-led KFOR mission featured prominently in the talks. Officials underlined the importance of KFOR’s role in maintaining stability and security in Kosova, and the wider region.
Infrastructure and connectivity projects also formed part of the agenda. The minister highlighted Pan European Transport Corridor VIII and the development of Porto Romano in Durrës, as strategic initiatives. He said these projects support regional integration and receive backing from NATO cooperation frameworks.
Nufi reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to its NATO obligations. He said the country will continue contributing actively to regional and Euro-Atlantic security.
