Albania and European Union hold second security and defence dialogue in Brussels

TIRANA, April 17 – Albania and the European Union held their second dialogue on security and defence under a joint partnership framework. The meeting took place as global security challenges continue to grow in complexity.

European Union officials and Albanian representatives discussed cooperation in defence and foreign policy alignment. Albania reaffirmed its alignment with the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. It also expressed readiness to contribute to joint missions and programmes.

Security developments in Europe formed a central part of the discussions. Participants addressed Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine and its impact on regional and global stability. Albania reiterated its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and international law.

Regional stability in the Western Balkans also featured in the dialogue. Albania stressed the link between regional security and broader European stability. Both sides highlighted European Union enlargement as a long-term instrument for peace and stability.
