TIRANA, April 17 – The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe held a cross-border meeting in Pogradec on preventing violent extremism and radicalisation. The discussion focused on online radicalisation and related security risks.
The OSCE Presence in Albania and the OSCE Mission to Skopje organised the roundtable. Officials from central and local institutions, law enforcement, civil society and community groups from both countries attended. Participants exchanged experiences and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation.
National coordinators against violent extremism Lejdi Dervishi of Albania and Pavle Trajanov of North Macedonia outlined national priorities. They reviewed existing cooperation mechanisms and identified challenges and opportunities for closer coordination.
Discussions highlighted the need for multi-agency approaches and improved information sharing. Participants identified priority areas, including stronger coordination at all levels and joint initiatives to support prevention and community resilience.
