Albania, Turkey reaffirm strategic partnership in Begaj–Bayraktaroğlu meeting

President Bajram Begaj met Turkish Chief of General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu in Tirana on Saturday.

They highlighted strong NATO alliance ties. They reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Albania and Turkey. They described political, economic, and defense relations as excellent.

Begaj praised defense cooperation. He said collaboration remains consolidated and at high levels. He thanked Turkey for supporting the modernization of Albania’s Armed Forces.

Turkey backed education and training. It supported defense capacity building. It assisted civil emergency response and medical support.

Troops from both countries served together in NATO missions. They operated in Afghanistan, the Aegean Sea, and Kosovo. These missions strengthened military ties.

Begaj thanked Turkey for help after the 2019 earthquake. He also acknowledged support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The president praised Turkey’s role in KFOR. He called the mission key for peace and stability in Kosovo and the region.
