Albania’s EU path built on concrete results, Hoxha says after meeting Commissioner Kos

TIRANA, April 20 – Albania’s Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha met European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos to discuss progress in the country’s European Union accession process.

Hoxha said talks focused on the pace of negotiations and the need to maintain current momentum. He described Albania’s EU path as based on sustained reforms and measurable results.

Discussions also covered implementation of the Reform Agenda under the EU Growth Plan. The minister said the programme complements accession efforts while delivering tangible benefits for citizens.

The ministry highlighted priorities including alignment with EU standards, strengthening rule of law, and ensuring an independent judiciary. Both sides also stressed the importance of clear public communication on enlargement to build support and transparency.

Kos acknowledged Albania’s progress and called for continued reform efforts. She reiterated that EU enlargement remains a merit-based process.
